Becoming a mom also keeping your job as a digital marketer is a thrilling yet uncertain situation. With just under two months left until I meet my baby, I find myself reflecting on my journey. After two years of working as a full-time digital marketer for a large international company, I’m ready to transition into building my projects again on my terms. While this change excites me, I’d be lying if I said there weren’t unanswered questions swirling in my mind—and a bit of fear that comes with them.
Pregnancy brain is real! My focus feels scattered, and it’s hard to maintain attention for long periods. But amid the hormonal chaos, I know that balancing my career, my soon-to-be motherhood duties, and my graduate studies will be challenging. However, it’s also a chance to reinvent both my personal and professional life.
Where to Start? Defining Priorities
As I prepare for this new chapter, a key question keeps coming to mind: Where do I start? My passion for teaching digital marketing hasn’t changed, and I have exciting plans ahead. But as both a digital marketer and a soon-to-be mom, deciding where to focus my efforts is not easy. Should I prioritize SEO for my website? Grow my Instagram account? Or focus more time on building my YouTube channel?
Life is ever-changing, and right now, I’m finding it hard to commit to just one path. Not knowing how much time I’ll have after the baby or how to juggle everything makes decision-making even more challenging. But I know this: in the end, the key is to be flexible and adaptable as life unfolds.
The Truth About Motherhood and Professional Life
Childbirth changes everything, and I’m about to experience that firsthand. As a first-time mom, I have no intentions of becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom. That’s perfectly okay — it’s my choice to maintain a balance between my personal and professional goals. The reality, though, is that everything is about to shift.
One of the biggest challenges I’ll face is balancing motherhood with my graduate studies. If you’re familiar with digital marketing, you know how quickly the industry evolves. Staying on top of new trends while caring for my family and continuing my education, will require juggling and re-prioritizing. But I’m ready for the challenge.
Struggles of a Working Mom: Finding Balance
Being a working mom is no easy feat. Work-life balance can be a constant struggle. Many can relate to this, even if you’re not in the digital marketing field. The advantage of working from home and not being tied to a 9-5 job is that it offers flexibility. This flexibility allows me to continue building my career while also spending precious time with my baby. But it needs much more self-discipline!
While I enjoy the power of social media, I also believe in maintaining boundaries. For instance, I won’t be creating an Instagram account to document every moment of my baby’s life. That’s personal. Instead, I look forward to sharing my journey as both a digital marketer and a soon-to-be mom. I’ll be open about the struggles and triumphs of motherhood, and I hope my story can help other women in similar situations.
You’re Not Alone: Supporting Each Other
To all the new mothers, especially those balancing a demanding career in digital marketing or similar fields with the challenges of motherhood—you are not alone! Finding a way to manage both work and family is tough for everyone. But with the right tools, like the flexibility digital marketing can offer, it’s possible to create a lifestyle that suits both you and your family.
I’d love to hear from other working moms. What obstacles did you face, and how did you manage both your personal and professional life? Please share your thoughts in the comments!
Let’s continue to push each other forward in this journey, growing both personally and professionally. I look forward to sharing my experiences and helping others find value in their paths by teaching digital marketing skills. Feel free to contact me.
